9.30 PM Thu

It was unusual for me to stay awake and watch TV after dinner but the debate on TIMES NOW was very engrossing. (Damn, I loved the way Arnab moderated the toughest politicians!)

Suddenly at around 9.45 the ticker showed that same old BREAKING NEWS tag. It said that there was some firing amoung rival gangs in some hotel in Mumbai. Hmm, nothing new I thought and switched to some other interesting ‘news’ channel; INDIA TV. O Yeah ! Now here is a channel that really reaches down to people and brings news from the most secluded places in India(which even their state governments don’t know about).

But this time there was some thing new. The Channel was showing BREAKING NEWS(in god knows what font size… maybe 150-200!!) and it said that there were ‘serial blasts at 7 places‘ in mumbai. WTF?? Gunshots were being reported as serial blasts ?? That’s one heck of a channel. Like they care what real news is.. I went to sleep as I had a long drive to meerut next day.

7.00 PM Fri

I was returning from meerut in a 98 model Maruti 800(Beleive me driving a truck must be lotta easier). The RJ chatted continuously and was saying something about encounter still going on. He was saing something about mumbai spirit and Indian spirit, then he played back to back songs from Chak de, RDB dunno what was he trying to show( Like he really cares…)

A few minutes later he spoke about a virtual human chain in support of the on-going events in mumbai. “Join this record virtual chain and support the mumbai people show them that we are along with them, Send you SMS’s to 55****** !!”. What a m*****c**** he was. Yes that’s what really happens. There are people struggling for lives and these mothrfckurs want our SMS’s(that too which cost 8 Rs/ SMS).

10.00 PM Fri

Still the encounter was going on. Had my dinner and was going for a stroll but strangely the number of people on street were less. Today no dance shows, no comedy shows, no soap operas why was everyone watching NEWS ? They were more interested in speculating that the death toll would reach 100+, some said its going to be over 300 but authorities wount tell the true figures. Today the best reality show was on. The BIG BOSS was back again and had every one glued to it. No one cared really… just a nice time pass show people watching on their 23 inch widwscreen TV, tucked in their warm cosy blankets.

10.00 PM Sat

They say its over. Now there are debates going on. SMS’s making round. Candle light marches. Sentimental songs on TV wid photos of martyrs. But really do we care ?

People writing blog entries. Like suddenly they got a spicy item to write about.  Like they really wrote a booker prize material.  And we ?? Reading another blog to satisfy the negativity. We like it dont we ?

Playing counter strike to kill(headshots? Bich !!). Watching Billy Die harder.
